Our Mission

Formed in direct response to the persistent and intersecting epidemics in McDowell County, T & T Organics utilizes Appalachia’s agricultural heritage to craft long-lasting health and economic solutions. The farm has shaped a vision for mountain agriculture in West Virginia and beyond, where we can work with the land instead of against it. By indentifying nutrious products that naturally and prolifically succeed in Central Appalachia– like fruit trees, honey, maple syrup, meat goats, poultry and forest medicinal products– we can create sustainable food systems that empower our region.

Owner Jason Tartt, Sr. is a co-founder of the nonprofit Economic Development Greater East (EDGE) and the founder of American Youth Agripreneur Association (AYAA). As a result, T & T Organics is part of broader collaborative efforts to revitalize McDowell County, West Virginia, and Central Appalachia.

DRT Environment

T & T Organics and Economic Development Greater East (EDGE)’s DRT Environment facility is a living laboratory dedicated to researching economic drivers for our area. From our apiary, to our high tunnels, to our hydropanel installation, our tools at the DRT Environment allow us to test business ideas and host on-site workforce education.
